Chyna Rose Stevens’ father gained his fame in 1957 when a Life Magazine article about him which was titled “America’s Youngest DJ” and a picture of him was broadcasted live over radio station KEYJ in his hometown, Jamestown.Â
A graduate of the University of North Dakota and a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity, Shadoe majored in Commercial Art and TV/Radio Journalism at the University of Arizona. He worked to fend for himself through college at radio at KILO in Grand Forks, North Dakota; KQWB in Fargo, North Dakota; and KIKX in Tucson, Arizona, he became the most popular DJ. He joined Bill Drake-formatted station WRKO in Boston and worked his way through to the top.Â
He joined acting when he auditioned for Arthur Miller’s After the Fall at the University of Arizona. He gained fame when he played Kenny Beckett on the sitcom Dave’s World from 1993 to 1997 and served as announcer for the Fender Bender 500 segments of Wake, Rattle, and Roll. Shadoe’s brother, Richard filled in for him from time to time on the 1986-1989 version of Hollywood Squares and is a disc jockey on Citadel Media’s Hits & Favorites format.
