Hilda’s mother Eve Lynn Abbott (1914–2004) was a former stage actor. Abbott married Keenan Eve Lynn in 1949. They stayed married until their divorce in 1947, whereupon her mother married actor Van Johnson, one of the couple’s closest friends.
Hilda’s mother contended her marriage to Keenan was a happy one, but the reason behind her divorce was engineered by MGM studio boss Louis B. Mayer. According to her, the MGM studio boss refused to renew her ex-husband’s contract unless Abbott divorced him and married Johnson, who was the subject of rumors that he was homosexual.
Hilda Wynn’s father was reported to suffer from painful ear infections which resulted in him shouting in a loud voice, which he had no control over.

Paul Willimas has been married three times and Hilda Wynn is the second woman he took to the altar. His first marriage was to Kate Clinton. His third wife is writer Mariana Williams. Williams and Hilda were married for 10 years. According to some sources, the couple dated for 1 year after getting together in 1992 and married on 16th Apr 1993. They divorced in 2004, and the reason behind the divorce was not made public. The couple also did not have any children.

Though she is the daughter and also the ex-wife of famous Hollywood personalities, Hilda is not all over the place. She went totally out of the limelight after the death of her father and also her divorce from her ex-husband Paul Williams.
Her father suffered from pancreatic cancer, which caused his death on October 14, 1986. Hilda’s father’s ashes are interred in Glendale’s Forest Lawn Memorial Park in The Great Mausoleum, Daffodil Corridor, Columbarium of the Dawn, in a niche alongside her grandfather Ed Wynn, her sister Emily wynn(February 13, 1960 – November 27, 1980), who died from lupus.
